City of Minneapolis Completes Streetcar Feasibility Study
The Streetcar Feasibility Study Final Report was completed and presented to City Council in January 2008. The report recommends a long-term streetcar network made of seven corridors that could be implemented in 20-50 years, depending on funding availability. The report also identifies potential “minimum operating segments” upon which to build the system in a phased approach.

On Transit episode # 30 - Max Yellow Line
Our fellow Minneapolitan and friend, filmmaker John Akre, visited Portland to talk to small business owners along the Interstate Avenue corridor (which is strikingly similar to the University Avenue corridor in St. Paul, MN) to get their opinions on how the LRT line has impacted their businesses.
As one might expect, the business owners were worried about negative impacts before construction, but their fears were not realized. Read more >
BRT: Transmilenio
Transmilenio is Bogotá, Colombia's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The system, which was first put into operation in 1999, now moves over 1.3 million passengers every day. Transit vehicles share many features with light rail vehicles, including multiple-door boarding, same level boarding platform and vehicle interiors, and station (rather than in-vehicle) fare payment.
