Update: Cyclist's Death Memorialized in Ride
Bicyclist Dennis Dumm was struck and killed by a semi truck early Wednesday morning during his morning commute along Park Avenue's bike lane. The crash occured when a semi truck turned left, striking Dennis as he rode through the intersection.
According to an eye witness, both Dennis and the truck were stopped at a red light before the crash occured.
"The truck started going straight to make a wide left turn," Ryan Moffett told the Star Tribune. "I think he didn't realize the truck was turning. He just couldn't get out of the way."
Approximately 100 cyclists joined in a previously planned Memorial Ride of Silence to honor Dennis Dumm and other cyclists killed by motorists.

I rode past the aftermath on
I rode past the aftermath on my way to work. The truck and cyclist were long gone. Such a tragedy. The left turn lanes should be taken out so the bike path in continuous.
A real tragedy. There isn't
A real tragedy.
There isn't a turn lane at 14th (that is at 7th and 9th), but there are lots of people that turn left without looking out for cyclists who might be in the bike lane. I take this route nearly every day and nearly every day I worry about someone turning left into me.

The summary is a little
The summary is a little misleading:
"The driver of the truck will not be cited in connection with the accident, said Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. Bill Palmer. He said the truck was loaded with concrete and asphalt chunks from a nearby construction site as it headed north on Park, a one-way street."
