Twin Cities Streets for People is a citizen led and directed non-profit organization working to envision and encourage a more sustainable and people-oriented mobility and transportation framework for our region and beyond.

The Problem

For roughly the past 60 years, our cities have been redesigned and rebuilt around the needs of the automobile rather than the needs of people. This choice has resulted in landscapes that are hostile to walking, to bicycling, and to human interaction. This, in turn, has led to environmental degradation, poor public health and struggling local economies.

The Solution

We need to get back to designing and building our communities around the needs of people instead of vehicles.

To make this happen Twin Cities Streets for People works to educate and envision how the physical landscape upon which we live our lives could be different. Our goal is to help more effectively engage our policy makers, our planners and our engineers in a productive conversation about making our communities more sustainable and people-friendly, and therefore, more healthy and prosperous.
