In 2005 San Francisco based artists collective REBAR introduced their innovative Park(ing) project. Using various materials and methods, REBAR created temporary parks in parking places, helping people to envision greener urban spaces. This fun and educational project has since spread worldwide, thanks to the open-source ethic of REBAR and partners at the Trust for Public Land.

On Friday, September 19, volunteers like you all over the world will create temporary parks in their own cities and neighborhoods. This will be only the second year that Minneapolis-St.Paul will participate in National Park(ing) Day - and we hope you will join us! Visit the Park(ing) Day website to learn how you can make your own temporary park - or plan to tour the parks that will be constructed in Downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul.

YOU ARE INVITED!  In addition to documenting Twin Cities Park(ing) Day projects, Community Design Group, Twin Cities Streets for People and solutions twin cities will team-up to host a Park(ing) Day gathering during happy hour on September 19th. Mark your calendars! More information will be posted here soon.
