Metrodome TOD site plan includes "central park"
Here's an article on the 2003 land use plans on file with the city about the Metrodome site. They've planned a mixed-use TOD high density area surrounding a park and a "centennial lakes" style lake near the burdgeoning Guthrie condo area.
What do you think? Is this a pre-housing bubble plan? What might it look at in the current market?

Thanks for pointing out the
Thanks for pointing out the incredible TOD potential for the Metrodome site. That whole end of downtown (including the vast fields of parking lots surrounding the dome) is probably the most tantalizing spot for doing really high quality transit-oriented development in the entire region.
Now is the time to do the planning, while the market is cold. While that rendering is nice, I'd say it probably doesn't go far enough. Getting this part of downtown right is also a vital part of repairing the urban fabric in Minneapolis. We've made a lot of progress in the rest of downtown, but East Downtown is still quite a wasteland.
The more ziggurats, the better
I didn't know the Temple of Eck was relocating from Chanhassen. But hey, the more ziggurats, the better.
Although I'd have to see more
Although I'd have to see more of the plan before endorsing it, but in theory, it's great. I do like the oval park idea, it pays homage to the Dome (for better and for worse). I question the need for a pond/lake, it seems like it'd only be decorative.
i'd say the temple theme goes
i'd say the temple theme goes with the large 'semi ruined arch' thing next to the metrodome LRT stop, too!
