Central Corridor is a go, but will lawsuits stop it in its tracks?
Like it or not, the Central Corridor LRT line got the much needed federal push that it got last week from our president. Now that is seems to be moving forward will the three lawsuits tie up construction and the actually building of the line for years to come? The University of Minnesota, MPR, and Rondo residents all have three seperate lawsuits stating that Metropolitian Council has not taken their concerns, and mitigation, into account with the line.
Many feel that these lawsuits are the chance for at least two large institution to grab the mitigation funds which is leaving nothing left over to address the concerns of residents and small businesses. Should MPR and the U back off? Are we really going to delay the line because of these suits? What you think?

Central Corridoe......
Will the Central Corridor ever become a reality??? That is in the minds of many St. Paul people that live and work along the proposed Central Avenue stretch of the planned Central Corridor Light Rail system. Is all of this worth the headaches, the ups and downs of the planning to have a light rail system run down central Avenue????? If the plan is to keep the #16 bus route running with the Light Rail once the completion happens(If it all goes well), Why run the Light Rail down Central Avenue in the first place?? The #16 route has been running down Central Avenue and stopping at most every corner and meeting the needs of the people who ride it every day. There are other bus routes that take you over to the Midway area, as well as into the Centeral Avenue area of St. Paul. We really should have looked at putting the Light Rail on a street like Snelling Avenue or the route that the #54 bus runs....it's not about putting something where the people are, it is about putting the system in an area that already has a good bus route and works well. The people will use the system when it is on a route that has been used and going strong already. Public Transportation users will go where the system is that has a good means of going where they need to go and not deal with a system that feeds only the people of Centeral Avenue. This Light Rail system is about getting people back into the downtown area and reopening the downtown for more people to get back to working in downtown St. Paul and make St. Paul what it once was as a thriving city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Getting people to the Excel Energy Center, to the Ordway, to the Landmark center and other places of interest that can get people from both Mpls. and St. Paul into our states capitol and get it thriving again!!!!
Sorry Buddy...
I am willing to accept an excess of punctuation. However, if you think that University Avenue is called Central Avenue, then you lose all legitimacy and your opinion evaporates into thin air!
#16 bus
Anyone who has ever ridden the #16 anywhere close to rush hour would know that something needs to change.
